Too many people I know have been telling me in the last few years how wonderful and beautiful markdown is. I never believed them, because I have quite a bit of experience with wiki markup, whose proponents have been saying exactly the same things about wiki markup for several years prior to markdown’s release.

Just a few minutes ago I had to read some documentation for installing a piece of software I just cloned off Github (there’s an obvious rant there for another time). It was a readme.md, and it looked like this:

On what planet must you live to be telling me that this is readable? I’ve written Perl code as a student that was more readable than that.

Bah, it never ends. Next thing you know writing machine-specific assembly code will be cool again.
