Hah! I didn’t even make that one up: Do What the Fuck You Want to Public License<\/a>. It should have been “whatever” not “what”, which kind of sucks, makes it look like an illiterate 15<\/b>-year-old american came up with it.<\/b><\/p>\n

I found it because uMap (an awesome piece of software I’m sure I‘ll write about one day) is licenced under it.<\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

It’s interesting, for most of my life I used the GPL for my software, and if ever I considered a BSD\/MIT-style licence I was confused about the need for a licence\/disclaimer at all, given that you’re free to do whatever you want.<\/p>\n

If I had to decide today – I don’t know what I’d do. I still think it’s kind of retarded to claim that just because you got some software for free on the internet the author of the software owes you a warranty, but I’d need to look deeper into why the warranty disclaimers are so prevalent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
